Add-On-Certification
through Southeastern Louisiana University
Add-on certification is currently undergoing drastic changes. The latest group of new add-on certification policies adopted by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education at the June 2004 BESE meeting are listed below by certification type. Add-on (endorsement) certifications not identified in the following policies will continue to follow requirements currently in place in Bulletin 746.
- PK-3 Add-On (Endorsement)
- Elementary Add-On (Grades 1-5)
- Middle School 4-8 Specialty Area Add-On (Endorsement in Social Studies, English, Mathematics, or Science
- Secondary Specialty 6-12 Area Add-On (Endorsement) in core Content Area as defined in NCLB [Social Studies, English, Foreign Language, Math, Science, Speech].
- Secondary Specialty 6-12 Area Add-On (Endorsement) Non-NCLB [Agriculture, Business, Computer Science, Family & Consumer Sciences, Journalism, Marketing, Technology Education].
- All-Level (K-12) Area Add-On (Endorsement) in Art, Dance, Foreign Language, Health/Physical Education, Music
- Academically Gifted Add-On (Endorsement)
- Mild/Moderate Special Education Add-On (Endorsement)
- Early Interventionist Birth to Five Add-On (Endorsement)
Certified teachers in Louisiana may add-on additional certifications to their teaching certificate by completing requirements found in Bulletin 746: "Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel." The following lists commonly acquired certifications and the courses that Southeastern uses to meet Bulletin 746.
- Elementary and Secondary Principal Supervisor of Instruction
- Reading Specialist
- School Librarian
- Adapted Physical Education
- Education Diagnostician
- Educational Technology Facilitation
- Educational Technology Leadership
- English as a Second Language
- Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance and/or Visiting Teacher
