The chart below identifies requirements to be completed in order to add-on a certification level and/or a certification area within levels to an existing valid teaching certificate.

- For Individual holding a valid Early Childhood certificate (e.g.,PK-K,PK-3)
- Elementary certificate (e.g., 1-4, 1- 5, 1-6, 1-8),
- Upper Elementary or Middle School certificate (e.g., 4-8, 5-8, 6-8),

Secondary school certificate (e.g., 6-12, 7-12, 9-12),

- Achieve passing score for PRAXIS Early Childhood Education (0521) and Education of Exceptional Children: Core Content Knowledge (0353).
- Eighteen (18) credit hours that pertain to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. SPED 200/600, "Introduction to the Education of Individuals with Exceptionalities." is a prerequisite to all SPED courses.
- Foundations in Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention (SPED 682)
- Understanding and Working with Families of Young Children (SPED 767)
- Assessment in Early Intervention (SPED 688)
- Early Intervention Methods (SPED 683)
- Teaming, Physical and Medical Management in Early Intervention (SPED 689)
- Communication and Literacy in Early Intervention (SPED 685)
- Nine (9) semester hours of reading coursework (EDUC 657, 661, 678)
