Message from the Dean

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN continued.......

"Welcome to the College of Education and Human Development at Southeastern Louisiana University! Our mission is to serve the regional, state, national, and global communities by developing effective professionals through implementing innovative and progressive programs."

Dr. Allen"We seek high caliber students who desire to make a difference in the lives of children, families and communities. As a result of our emphasis on high standards, the College is recognized in the state and the region for the high quality of professionals who graduate each year and contribute to the educational and social fabric of their communities.

The College offers many pathways and experiences for our students. Our K-8 lab school, field experiences in local schools, and counseling internships allow our students to apply their knowledge in real world settings under the guidance of our stellar faculty. If you are not a certified teacher but currently hold a bachelors degree, we invite you to investigate the Master of Arts in Teaching degree which is offered both on campus and on-line. The on-line version of the MAT is reserved for those students who are currently teaching in a school and allows them to complete their course work in their own classroom. The Counseling program will soon offer services to couples and families while, at the same time, providing internship opportunities to counseling students in the Family and Marriage Therapy Clinic.

While we are proud of our heritage of providing excellent leaders for Louisiana, we are also excited about the many new directions our College is pursuing. We believe that as you explore the many opportunities available in the College of Education and Human Development you will want to be a part of our learning community."
