About the Summer Institute
Scholarships
Scholarships pay for attendees
training, materials, lodging, and "working" lunch during the Summer Institute.
Scholarships are supported by the Louisiana Department of Education (LaDOE),
the Southeast Area Health Education Center, and the Louisiana Association
of Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (LASDFSC). Applicants receive
these scholarships on a first come - first served basis. There are a limited
number of scholarships available for each training program. Register as
early as possible.
Lodging
Participants are lodged
in the new Southeastern housing complex. Participants must bring all bedding
(sheets, blanket, pillow) and toilitries. Early lodging (Aug 1) is allowed
for those traveling more than 50 miles from the campus.
Training Format
Most sessions involve a
thorough training on the selected curriculum to include content lessons
along with hands-on application and skill enhancement. Participants
remain in their selected training sessions through the entire institute.
Who Should Attend
Teachers, administrators,
health educators, school counselors, school food service personnel, prevention
specialists, counselors, social workers, community-based workers, nurses,
pre-service students and other health and education professionals.
Location and Time
Sessions will be held at
the Southeastern Louisiana University, CATE Teacher Education Center, 1300
N. General Pershing, Hammond, LA. Check-in begins at 8:00 AM, August
2rd; educational sessions will begin at 9:00 AM. All sessions will

Registration Fee
Our $20 registration fee
is used to cover fees not allowed through the grants that support this
training. These include, but are not limited to fees for participant use
of the Southeastern Student Activity Center, refreshments during breaks,
and lost key/breakage costs.
