Southeastern Progression Scholarship
You have probably heard about the exciting new "Progression" scholarship that Southeastern created to promote retention and timely progression toward a four-year degree. Only students who enrolled in summer or fall 2007 as beginning freshmen as well as those who enroll in future semesters are eligible for this unique scholarship. If your students are planning to graduate with a bachelor's degree in 4 years, this scholarship will help them achieve their goal by funding a portion of their tuition and fees and enabling them to study more and work less. Additionally, for students who depend on student loans, graduating in 4 years could reduce their overall loan debt significantly!
- Student must enter Southeastern as a beginning freshman in the Summer 2007 semester or later (transfer students and students who entered as beginning freshmen prior to the Summer 2007 are not eligible for this new award).
- Student must have a declared major before the beginning of the 3rd regular semester to be eligible for the Year 2* award (Fall and Spring are considered regular semesters).
- Student must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and must have completed
25%* of the courses needed for a bachelors degree in the major before the beginning of the 3rd regular semester. Credit earned prior to graduation from high school and courses taken during summer semesters are included in the calculation of the percent of completion.
*Note: Students may not qualify for the Year 2 award, but will still be eligible for the Year 3 or Year 4 awards if they meet the criteria at those points in their career.
*Note: All degree programs must have at least 120 hours, so the minimum number of degree credit hours earned for the first year must be at least 30. Some programs require more than 120 hours, therefore the number for degree credit hours needed to satisfy the percent of completion requirement will vary based on the student's major.
